LOCAL INFORMATION
Nusa Lembongan is a small island situated approximately 19 km off
the south east coast of Bali in the Badung Strait. Lembongan Island Kubu Tamu is located at Celagimpak Beach, a 10 to 15
minute walk along the coastline to both Mushroom Bay or Jungut Batu.
The island is 2km wide and 4km long which makes it small enough to hike or ride around. Motorbikes (scooters) and bicycles can be hired at very reasonable prices. Our staff are able to help organise this for you. Alternatively speak to the staff at nearby Villa Wayan Beach Restaurant.
Nusa Lembongan has, like Bali a predominantly Hindu culture and has numerous cultural ceremonies that visitors are more than welcome to participate in. Our staff and the local people are happy to talk to you about their interesting way of life.
We are able to organise your travel from Bali and recommend that you take one of the “Fast Boats”. These boats leave from the beach at Sanur and deliver you to Jungut Batu or Mushroom Bay in approx. 20-30 minutes. You will be picked up from your hotel in Bali and dropped off at Kubu Tamu after you arrive on the island. When you leave to return to Bali, you will be picked up and driven to the boat and returned to your hotel in Bali when you arrive back in Sanur. There are many choices of boat companies but our preference is Rocky Fast Cruise, which operates from Jungut Batu.
Money – an ATM machine is now available in Jungut Batu. We recommend that you also bring local currency with you considering that there is only one ATM, which is not always reliable. There are money changers on the island but their exchange rate is somewhat less than in Bali.
Electricity - Power on Nusa Lembongan is very temperamental and with less output than the supply on the mainland of Bali. There are times when the Island suffers blackouts that are beyond our control. We do however have our own generators and can provide power at these times.
Local Shopping - The Island has a variety of mini marts and small local shops for the purchase of essential items such as sunscreen, insect repellent, shampoo etc. A range of fruits and vegetables and local products are also available. Just ask our staff for advice on where to buy what you need.
